Over the past months, I’ve tested what really works when it comes to clothing, footwear, and accessories. In this blog, I’m sharing the Hyrox essentials I personally use and recommend.

  1. Hyrox Cap – More Than Just Style

Wearing a cap during Hyrox isn’t just about looking good. It helps wick sweat away from your face during intense workouts and keeps your focus sharp. Personally, I prefer a lightweight, breathable running cap that stays comfortable even during rowing and wall balls.

  1. Proper Hyrox Shoes – Grip and Comfort Matter

Your choice of shoes directly impacts your performance in Hyrox. From running laps to sled pushes, you need stability, grip, and comfort. I recommend shoes with good lateral support and solid grip on gym floors. Personally, I go for hybrid training shoes: not as soft as running shoes, but not as stiff as pure lifters.

  1. Lightweight Shorts – Avoid Heavy Fabrics

Shorts that dry fast and don’t stick to your legs are key. During burpees, rowing, and sled pulls, you’ll want full freedom of movement. I recommend minimalist running or training shorts with inner lining.

  1. Sweat-Wicking Shirt – Stay Cool Under Pressure

A proper training shirt keeps you cool and prevents that heavy, soaked feeling. Go for synthetic fabrics that wick sweat and dry quickly. I avoid cotton completely for Hyrox.

  1. Grip Socks – Small Detail, Big Difference

Grip socks can prevent slipping during sled pushes and burpees, especially on smoother gym surfaces. They also help reduce blisters during the running laps. Look for breathable grip socks with reinforced heel and toe areas.

  1. Training Gloves (Optional) – Protect Your Hands

I sometimes use lightweight training gloves for sled pulls and kettlebell carries. They help prevent torn skin and provide extra grip, especially if your hands get sweaty mid-race. This is a personal preference, but worth considering.
